I have always liked things to be perfectly planned, organized, and under control. It doesn't mean that I don't like (pleasant !) surprises and unexpected thrills, but that uncertainty and chaos are big fears. Although always a strong believer in destiny, I have also simultaneously believed that we create our own destinies.
With time however, I am increasingly appreciating that most things are beyond our control. No matter how much we try to predict, plan, and organize; and in spite of our best efforts, most things will happen just the way it is meant to be. When everything looks just perfect and fitting into place, people and situations will create unwanted complications. And again, when you worry about something and fear the worst, more often than not; you will be wonderfully rewarded, maybe even beyond your expectations! There will be people whose motive and behavior you can never justify, but their venom will be countered by others, who will remind you that you are indeed blessed. Plans will fall apart, only to make way for other ones, for better or for worse. And in this manner life goes on through the weather-like cycles; continuously moving between surprising, hurting or giving us happiness and contentment. The only thing we can really do is continuing to make the best plans possible, yet accepting and attempting to find peace with whatever comes our way....sun, rain or rainbow.
We had learnt this fantastic song in primary school that perfectly summarizes this :
Que sera, sera... Whatever will be, will be
The future is not ours to see,
Que sera, sera... What will be, will be.
